Wildlifevets Externship

Duties & Activities

Externs join in on the everyday running of the practice, they accompany our vets on Wildlife call outs and game capture. They also have access to listen in on Wildlife Anesthetic and Medicine lectures given by our vets, thus gaining both the theoretical and practical knowledge. Each day differs from the other, with case and work load varying based on time of the year. Most days start with a team meeting to discuss the plan of the day, thereafter the externs may choose which case they would like to accompany the vets out on. During the cases, they will have the opportunity to administer medication, IV/IM/SC, take blood, perform blood smears and manage wounds.

Schedule

There is no set schedule as we are often out early and come back late, however our official working hours are Monday - Friday, 7am to 5pm.

Logistics

• Accommodation Provided
• Free — Accommodation is included in the placement fee. Each externs has his/her own cottage, fitted with a double bed, bathroom, wardrobe and small kitchenette.
• Catering Provided
• Free — We can provide catering at an additional fee, alternatively we arrange for town trips weekly where you can stop up on food for the week.
• Transport Provided
